Instructional Ebook
31 mp3 Audio Files
Vocal Release happens to be a solid, if a bit unexciting, singing training system. Eric Frey is a talented singer, and has organized a nice learning system that can be entertaining occasionally. Plus, it’s the most affordable of the singing programs that actually produce beneficial results.
The package includes an ebook and 31 audio files that you can listen to from your computer or an mp3 player. The ebook is very straightforward and imparts its contents in a professional manner. It does a reasonably good job teaching newer singers how to successfully develop their voices, though it may be of less benefit to those with more experience, as it is not as comprehensive as a program such as Singorama. To his credit, Eric Frey does have a good track record of assisting people to improve their singing. Vocal Release can definitely be a helpful program, especially for beginning singers.
It does have a number of drawbacks that cannot be ignored, however. The included ebook has no diagrams, photographs, or illustrations. It wouldn’t be a problem if a DVD or other visual aid such as software was included, but as it is, it’s sometimes difficult to visualize the concepts being taught solely through written words. In addition, the ebook itself is not well-formatted and looks like it could have used some more thorough editing, as it includes a number of spelling mistakes.
The included audio files are reasonably well made, but Eric Frey talks a little too quickly much of the time, not giving you a chance to fully digest what he’s saying before he’s on to the next sentence. The audio files also lack the breadth of knowledge covered by a system such as Singing Success, which includes over 300 audio files.
Kids may need a little bit of help from their parents in order to follow along with Vocal Release, as it is not the most approachable program of our top three. Finally, vocal release does not cover the learning of sight reading music, as Singorama does.
A money-back guarantee is offered, but you must “prove” that you gave the program a fair shot. There are no bonuses included with the program. Overall, it’s a reasonably good program, but there are also definitely better programs available.
